Diving
Diving and the winter sun have been the main reasons that we have visited Lanzarote so many times.
If you have never dived before, there are several diving schools in all the main resorts, most of which have their own websites. Our favorite ones, in Puerto del Carmen are Safari Diving and The Dive Shop.
You can do a tryout dive for a couple of hours or you can sign up for a course over a few days, which will give you a PADI or BSAC qualification. These things are not cheap (a try out dive is about €60) but you will be supplied with all the gear and it will be an experience that you wont forget! As long as you have reasonable fitness they are available to anyone over age 12. There are programs for younger children too.
For experienced divers there is a wealth of possibilities! There are lots of good dives from the shoreline or from the dive center boats. There is plenty of wildlife to see, as well as reefs and caves and a number of accessible wrecks.
All the equipment you need can be hired from the dive centres and you can join accompanied dives if you don't have a buddy with you.
