Location

Lanzarote is the most easterly of the Canary Islands, and only 115km from the African coast.

Lanzarote is smaller and drier than the other popular islands in the group, and is distinctive for its volcanic landscape and unspoilt character. It has been declared a Unesco Biosphere Reservation.

Guime sit at the foot of Montana Blanca and you will soon start recognising the distinctive shape of the mountain to navigate you home to Casa Hoopoe! It is central to Lanzarote and the whole island is within easy reach.

It is about 15 minutes drive to the capital Arrecife, which lies east and a similar distance to Puerto del Carmen (west) for beaches and diving. The nearest beach is at Playa Honda, 10 minutes by car.

Guime is less than 10 minutes from the airport.

Inland and south, it is not far before you are in the wine growing region with its distinctive vineyards and then on to the larval fields and the Timanfaya National Park. The volcano last erupted about 200 years ago devastating a large swathe of the Island and leaving behind a moonscape of weird larval rock which is only beginning to be recolonised by plants and animals.
